It appears that I struggled to keep up with my blogger in the year of 2012. That is exactly what leads us to "Real World Reality" though. It seems nearly impossible these days to keep up with all aspects of social media, especially when trying to work a full time job, and run your own business on the side. Taking each day at a time; taking each post at time; taking each moment at a time. That is really what it's all about.
In 2012, I have continued to transition from a newspaper photojournalist to a "moment" photojournalist. While I will always have a spot in my heart for spot news, sports, and speaking for the voiceless through images plastered throughout the world, I have continued my adventure with people and the moments they experience throughout their life.

These moments, I speak so highly of, are a part of everyone's life - from the moment a baby is born, she will undergo millions of moments. The first smile, the first step, the first birthday. And after it seems like only a few moments have gone by she will have encountered a few birthdays and be off to her first day of school. Before any one can count the years that have gone by, she is a senior in high school. Her college years go faster than high school, and before she can blink her eyes she has fallen in love. Years seem only like moments and she's engaged to be married. After picking out a gorgeous wedding dress, she walks down the aisle. And just when she thinks she is the happiest she'll ever be, she becomes pregnant.
It is a natural instinct I have to want to capture each of these moments, and all the moments in between through photography. Because while these moments are the things we live for, tomorrow they are different. It is only through photography that we can truly remember our past and hold on to every moment.
It has been a great year for Julie K. Koehn Photography. I have met some wonderful children, families, and couples. I am excited to see what 2013 will have in store...Countless moments, I'm sure!
