Outer Banks - Travel Time

On Wednesday, June 18, 2014, Adam and I packed up the Tundra and headed northeast toward the Outer Banks of North Carolina to brave the adventures of camping in the beach dunes for the next few days.  Little did I know, it would be a trip to change our lives.

We left just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday and drove toward the Outer Banks.  Once on Hwy 12, the only highway on the island, we continued to drive until we hit Hatteras, a small village at the end of the stretch of land.  Our drive had lasted just over five hours and we were eager to get on the ferry that would take us 40 minutes south to Ocracoke Island.  When we arrived to the ferry station, however, it was slightly...held up. Dozens and dozens, maybe even a hundred cars filled the slots before us. After a two hour wait, and a slight loss of patience, we were able to find our own spot on a ferry.  It was well worth the wait...

Bring Charleston charm to your home...

Have you ever been to the beautiful city of Charleston S.C.?  I ventured down to the quaint coastal city a few years ago and fell in love!  I have been back twice since then.  I wanted to bring some of the Charleston Charm into my home so I printed some of my photos and made these fabulous coasters! These coasters can find a place in your home too!  Stock photos available for print also! Enjoy...

Great Find!

Chapel Hill friends, family, fans - I have been scouting parks this past fall and spring as I explore my new surroundings. I was so excited to stumble upon this park in the fall and had a great photo shoot with a lovely couple and their adorable dogs!

Because it was a bit chilly, we didn't get too far in our journey through Battle Park.  With the luck of some warm weather in March, though, I was able to hike the trails of Battle Park and scout for perfect photo areas! It became quite clear to me as I explored the tall trees, the various bridges, and the miniature creeks, that this park offers so many possibilities for photo sessions!  It is the perfect spot to let your children get rid of energy as they climb up stairs, walk across bridges, and explore the forest nestled in the heart of Chapel Hill. While they play, I will capture their personalities - the smiles you want hanging on the wall showing those moments you cherish on ordinary days.  As the whole family joins in the fun, we will set aside some time to group the family together, but for the most part you just get to enjoy a few hours of fun with your family, while I capture the moments for you!

Take a look and see if you can picture yourself with your family in this scenic park.  Although these photos were taken in March, as spring and summer progress the areas pictured will grow with the season and produce bright colors. Back to the Blogging World!

Although I took a year off from my Real World Reality blog, I am back in to give you the latest!  Looking forward to sharing photo experiences with you, as well as some of my latest adventures!  I started this blog toward the end of my college career and throughout my experience as a photojournalist. I have channeled my photojournalistic style into my own business of photographing weddings, couples, babies, families, and animals. I continue to cover other events as well.

In addition to my photography career, I am now attending the UNC School of Social Work to gain my MSW.  With the hope of becoming a child mental health therapist, I am very excited about this opportunity. When I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2009 with a double major in Journalism and Psychology, I never thought I would have the amazing opportunity to exercise both of my passions at the same time. Dreams do come true! I look forward to sharing with you what 2014 brings!
