We left just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday and drove toward the Outer Banks. Once on Hwy 12, the only highway on the island, we continued to drive until we hit Hatteras, a small village at the end of the stretch of land. Our drive had lasted just over five hours and we were eager to get on the ferry that would take us 40 minutes south to Ocracoke Island. When we arrived to the ferry station, however, it was slightly...held up. Dozens and dozens, maybe even a hundred cars filled the slots before us. After a two hour wait, and a slight loss of patience, we were able to find our own spot on a ferry. It was well worth the wait...
